About Reiki
Reki is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes the body's natural healing process. It's based on the concept of Ki life energy and is done by laying hands on the body. A subtle energy flows from the hands of the practitioner into the client, and it's this energy that creates the relaxation and healing effect.
A Reiki healing Session Can Help You
- Relieve anxiety and depression and disorders associated with both
- Strengthen the immune system
- Clear toxins
- Ease side effects of medications
- Sleep better
- Feel relaxed and rejuvenated
- Relax tense muscles
- Calm emotions
- Deepen awareness of spiritual connection
The number of sessions recommended depends on what condition is being worked on. Generally at least 3 sessions generate the greatest results. However, even just one session is beneficial for general relaxation and balance, a little Reiki is better than no Reiki. Please feel free to email me if you have questions.
DISTANCE REIKI HEALING
Reiki is not confined by time or space, energy is all around us, just like radio waves and phone signals. A session can be sent by a practitioner (at level two Reiki or above) by tuning into the client, just like from cell phone to cell phone. The practitioner will generally use a surrogate item in the place of the client (like a picture or a teddy bear) and do the session intending the Reiki go to the client. Many people have experienced amazing results. The Reiki that is sent by distance has to work through your highest energy body, your "higher self". It then cascades down all your energy bodies, from the Casual body to the Mental, Astral, Etheric and finally to your physical body. This can result in blockages being removed and may prevent them from manifesting into dis-ease in the physical body, or physical world experience. As with an in person Reiki session you may still receive the relaxation. balance and other effects mentioned. Many of these concepts can seem strange but many clients have benefited from distance Reiki sessions, I have clients all over the world. You can read about their experiences on the testimonials page. There is also a great book called Vibrational Medicine by Richard Gerber, M.D. you can read that talks about the scientific theory behind distance healing. Feel free to email me with questions as well.
Reiki'S History
Written by Akshara Weave from the liner notes of his CD Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen, which you can find in my recommendations section
There are many versions of the Reiki legend. As with all legends, the truth is reinterpreted with time. Here is a version of the traditional Reiki legend as it was shared with me…
Mikao Usui, who lived in the mid 1800's as a teacher in Kyoto, Japan, brought Reiki into the modern world. One day his students asked him to share the method of sacred healing that Jesus and Buddha used when they were alive. Usui could not, and decided to find and learn this skill of sacred healing. Usui began by searching his homeland, but was told by the spiritual masters of his time that the ancient healing methods had been lost.
Usui then traveled to America and spent several years studying religion and philosophy. He also learned to read Sanskrit, the ancient language of India and Tibet. Having found clues, but no real answers, he returned to Japan and entered into a Zen monastery. While at the monastery, Usui found in the original Sanskrit texts information that described a healing formula, written over 2500 years ago. Though the formula was very simple, he had no information on how to activate it. He then chose to go through a test that would help integrate the information into his being.
Usui climbed the steps of Mount Koriyama and meditated under a pine tree near a stream for 3 weeks. He gathered 21 stones in front of him to mark the days, throwing one away at the end of each day. In the hour before dawn of the last morning of his test, Usui opened his eyes and saw a great ball of white light moving through the sky towards him. His first instinct was to run from it; but he paused and decided to accept this light and whatever answers it would bring, even if it meant his death. With his eyes wide open, Usui watched the light strike his forehead and lost consciousness.
When Usui awoke, he saw millions of rainbow bubbles surrounding him and the Reiki symbols appeared to him as if on a giant screen of white light. As each symbol presented itself, he was given the understanding of how to activate and use their healing energy. This was the first Reiki Attunement. The five symbols are the keys to the sacred formula that Mikao Usui discovered.
